Art and Design Apps for Android: Drawing and Editing APKs

Different jobs under one label

Art and design apps cover several jobs that look similar from the outside. Some are painting apps where you draw with brushes and layers, some are photo editors that cut out objects and restyle pictures, and some are poster makers built for social media. The cards in this tag mix them, so decide first whether you are drawing from a blank canvas or fixing something you already shot.

Apps in this selection

  • ibis Paint X: a drawing app with brushes and layers; the card is labeled as a premium unlocked build.
  • Procreate Pocket: a pocket sized painting app for sketching and illustration.
  • Sketchbook Pro: a sketching tool with a clean interface for artists, listed as unlocked.
  • Pixelcut: an editor for removing backgrounds and making product style images.
  • Photoleap: a photo editor for creative effects and retouching.
  • Festival Post: a poster and greeting maker for quick social posts.
  • Infinite Design: a vector design app for logos and shapes.

How to choose by task

For illustration, favor apps with a deep brush list, layer support and an undo history you can trust. For posters and banners, templates and font libraries matter more than brushes. For photo work, check whether the effects are done on the phone or sent to a server, because that changes both speed and privacy. If photography is your main goal, the photo editor and camera tags will fit better, and the drawing collection is useful when you only want to sketch.

A stylus helps painting apps a great deal, but most of them also work with a finger on a large screen.

What to check before you install

Painting apps use a lot of memory when canvases get big, so look at the minimum Android version and be careful on older phones. Check the file size, and see whether premium assets such as brush packs or templates download later. Some tools need an account or internet for their library, and others work fully offline.

A premium unlocked build usually removes watermarks, ads or paywalled filters. Cloud features, sync and subscription checks may stop working when the app is modified, so keep your own copies of finished artwork outside the app. Our guides explain how to install, and the apps section and MOD list show more options.
