Communication Apps for Android: Calls, Mail and Browsers

A mixed shelf, sorted by task

The apps here do not form one category, and it is better to say so. The list contains a disposable email service, a caller identification app, messengers, a voice calling service, a data saving mobile browser and a job related app. What ties them together is that they all help you reach someone or be reached. Read them by task and the page becomes a useful toolbox.

How to choose by task

For daily chatting, use a messenger your contacts already have: see messengers and chat apps. For calls to another country or a separate number, look at the calling services and calling apps. For privacy, a disposable mail address and careful permissions help, and the privacy, security and VPN tags cover that side. If you are on a weak connection, a light browser may help more than another messenger, and browsers is the place to compare. Video focused callers can start from video apps.

Before you install

Every app here depends on a network, and most ask to verify a phone number or an email. Check the Android version and size on the card, and read the permission list: caller identification and second number apps need access to contacts or calls by design, so only install them if you accept that. Some of these services are regional, so a feature that works in one country may be limited in another. MOD builds of communication apps are unofficial and can lose features after server changes, and they should not be used for anything sensitive. Explore more in apps and guides.
